Carl Eugene DuBois
WWII vet, Consol retiree was UMWA member
Carl Eugene DuBois, 92, of Morgantown, W.Va., passed away Friday, August 16, 2013.
He was born June 12, 1921, in Star City, W.Va., a son of the late Carl and Lottie Brewer DuBois.
Mr. DuBois was a World War II veteran, having served in the 922 Field Artillery, 97th Infantry Division. His tour of duty included the European Theater and post-war occupation of Japan.
On February 20, 1943, he married Kathryn Becilla, who died October 9, 2007. Together, they had three children, Carolyn Galli of Ellicott City, Md., David DuBois (Kay) of Hershey and Gary DuBois (Deborah) of Waynesburg.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jennifer Galli, Christina Maggard (Christopher), David DuBois (Jodi), Justin DuBois (Penelope) and Andrea DuBois, and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jacob DuBois.
Mr. DuBois retired in 1985 from Consol Energy after 30 years of service in the coal industry. He worked at Bunker, Humphrey 7 and Osage mines and was a proud member of UMWA, District 31, Local 4043.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Star City, where he served as a lector and usher.
Robin St Clair and Terrie Cottrell took loving and dedicated care of Mr. DuBois.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown. A scriptural wake service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue from 9 until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, August 19, in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Star City, with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery.
