Betty Lou Moore, 78, of Holbrook, Jackson Township, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, after being seriously ill for the past year.
She was born November 26, 1934, in Center Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late John B. and Temperance Ellen Cowen Kirby Gaines. She had resided in Jackson Township most of her adult life.
Mrs. Moore formerly attended New Freeport Church of Christ.
She was an employee of the former Greenway Manufacturing plant in Waynesburg and a former volunteer with the Jackson Township food bank.
On October 30, 1954, she married Robert Lloyd Moore, who died June 27, 1969. She was a 16-year companion of Ronald “Buck” Riggs, who died November 19, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosa Lee Moore of Waynesburg and Dixie Berdine of Sparta, Wis.; two sons, Roger L. Moore, with whom she shared a home, and Ronald L., husband of Diane Moore of Morgantown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, husband and companion, are six sisters, Doris Hull, Genevieve Richter, Ruby Cunningham, Sadie Wright, Geraldine Smitley and Creta Weaver; and three brothers, James Kirby, Archie and Robert Gaines.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, with the Rev. Vernon K.
