Washington resident loved harness racing
Howard L. Colbert, 78, of Washington, went home with his God on his birthday August 16, 2013.
He was born August 16, 1935, in Hampton, Ga., a son of Emma Lou Scott, who passed away in May 2013.
Mr. Colbert was a trainer-driver at The Meadows Racetrack during the 1970s and early 1980s and loved harness racing.
Surviving are his wife and best friend, Marie “Cricket” Colbert; six daughters, Ronae Patterson, Latasha Patterson, Emma Patrick, Sherol Anderson, Janice Davis and Eileen Colbert; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Willie E. Walker (Eunice); sister Betty Tharp; two sisters-in-law, “sisters,” Vicki Boo and Trisha Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Deceased are son Howard A. Colbert and brother Billy Ray Scott.
