Retired Bentworth math teacher, PSEA member
John William Misko, 81, of Bentleyville, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1932, in Bentleyville, a son of the late John and Mary Jacko Misko.
Mr. Misko was a 1950 graduate of Bentleyville High School and a 1954 graduate of California State Teachers College.
For 31 years, he taught in Bentleyville High School, Ellsworth High School and later Bentworth High School, retiring in 1991. He taught algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and statistics. He was considered an excellent math teacher.
He was a lifelong member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville. He was a member of National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and Math Association of America.
Surviving are a sister, Margaret Tomiko of Midland, Mich.; 10 nieces and nephews, Danelle Misko and William Misko (Ann), both of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Michael J. Misko (Denise) of North Port, Ala., Daniel Misko of Tuscaloosa, Diane Vulevich of Theodore, Ala., Carol Horning of Mogadore, Ohio, Deborah Misko of Mogadore, Mark Tomiko (Raechel) of Midland, Mich., Lori Caruso (Paul) of Rose Point Park, Mich., and Joyce Kanack (David) of Deltona, Fla.; cousin and caregiver Loretta Antanovich (John) of Scenery Hill; friend and caregiver Barbara Wheatley of Charleroi; many great-nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Daniel and Emil Misko.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ave Maria Roman Catholic Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev.
