Beloved McCracken Pharmacy deliveryman
John Paul McCracken, 56, of Waynesburg, died Friday, August 23, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 14, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late Jack and Delores McCracken.
Mr. McCracken and his parents moved to Waynesburg, where he spent the rest of his life.
He graduated from Waynesburg Central High School in 1976 and thereafter attended Salem University in West Virginia, where he studied education.
Upon his return from Salem, he began his career at McCracken Pharmacy, where the community came to know him in his steadfast role of deliveryman. He worked at McCracken Pharmacy for over 30 years, until his unexpected death.
Mr. McCracken was a member of Whiteley Creek Community Church, and a member of Waynesburg Lodge No. 153 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Uniontown. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League of America and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, where he served a full term as Noble Grand.
He was an avid fan of the Three Stooges, Penn State and Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed bowling and driving his Mustang convertible.
Surviving are two brothers, Jeff (Helen) McCracken of Waynesburg and Jay (Anne) McCracken of Bluffton, Ohio and four nieces, Elissa, Lindsey, Katie and Molly.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, Monday, August 26, in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.

McCracken Pharmacy in Waynesburg will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for the funeral of their beloved longtime deliveryman, John Paul McCracken.
