Donald E. Anderson
Former manager of Washington paint store
Donald E. Anderson, 79, of Everett, formerly of Canonsburg and Washington, was called home to be with his Lord Saturday, August 24, 2013, with family by his side.
He was born Sunday, September 17, 1933, in Huston, a son of the late Kenneth B. Anderson and Dorothy Fleck Anderson.
On November 4, 1967, in Washington, he married Sophia Martha “Dolly” Peters, who survives along with their two daughters, Michele Briggs and husband Joe Briggs and Marcia Honsburger and husband Brent Honsburger, and six grandchildren, Evan, Eric, Jesse, Shaun, Valen and Sarah.
Mr. Anderson was a member of Manns Choice Church of God, where he served as an elder and as a member of the church council.
After serving in the U.S. Army, where he was in charge of weapons, he managed the Pittsburgh Paints store in Washington for many years.
For the past 35 years, he and his wife Sophia have owned and operated their Sheepskin Country Store at three locations, one shop in Everett for the past 25 years, as well as a shop at Savage Mill in Savage, Md., and another in Hagerstown, Md.
At home, he enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and taking his family for long Sunday rides. He was an instructor and lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and will be greatly missed for his welcoming smile, sense of humor and kind and caring ways.
Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, September 1, in Manns Choice Church of God, 6150 Allegheny Road, Manns Choice, PA 15550, with Pastor Richard Whetstone officiating.
