Larry A. Bahr, 75, of Bethel Park, died unexpectedly Friday, August 30, 2013.

He was born June 20, 1938, in Yankton, S.D., a son of Harry and Inez Bahr.

Mr. Bahr was an optician for 53 years.

He was an outdoorsman.

Mr. Bahr was an active member of St. Louise de Marillac Church.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Beverly; children Cynthia Cochenour, Brian (Patty) Bahr and Paul Bahr; and grandchildren Andrew, Ryan and Steven.

Beloved husband, loving stepfather

Randall P. “Randy” Cirata, 54, of Bridgeville, died Friday, August 30, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of Leah Cirata and loving stepfather of Christian Lazzaro.

Mr. Cirata worked as a customer relations manager for Washington Ford.

Avid sports fan served in U.S. Army

David F. “Zorro” Clutter, 61, of Washington, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.

He was born December 6, 1951, in New Eagle, a son of the late James H. and Dorothy E. Douglas Clutter.

Mr. Clutter was a 1970 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, where he excelled in and was an all-star player in both baseball and basketball.

He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army from December 22, 1970, until his honorable discharge September 21, 1972.

Mr. Clutter worked as a delivery driver for Frank’s Auto Supermarket.

He was active in the Washington Softball League and was the team captain for the May’rz Inn pool team in the Washington County Pool League. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Boston Celtics, the Steelers, the Pirates and Duke Basketball. In addition to sports, he loved fishing.

Mr. Clutter had a great love for family and was especially close to his nieces and nephews.

He was Catholic.

Surviving are eight siblings, Paula (Alex) Jester of West Alexander, Jim (Barbara) Clutter and Linda (Bob) Sten, both of Roswell, Ga., Barbara (Bob) Zanolli of Washington, Cindy Brezinski of Washington, Pat (Heather) Clutter of East Liverpool, Ohio, Ed Clutter of Woodstock, Ga., and Mary (John) Felak of North Augusta, S.C.; nieces and nephews Beth Swart, Melany Agnew, Amanda Jester, Jimmy Clutter, Becky Clutter, Rob Sten, Greg Sten, Katy Shoukry, Zach Zanolli, Stefanie King, Stephen Brezinski, Matthew Ricupero, Ashley Beard, Natalie Clutter, Amy Clutter, Jonathan Clutter, Julia Clutter, Jillian Clutter, Ella Clutter, Michael Felak, Michelle Gruening, Andrew Felak and Nicole Felak; and great-nieces and great-nephews Easton Swart, Alesha Stankus, A.J. Agnew, Christian Agnew, Hannah Agnew, Joshua Agnew, Randi Lynn Agnew, Caroline Sten, Juliette Shoukry, James Shoukry, Benjamin Zanolli, Jacob Zanolli, Dillon King, Jace Day and Austin Beard.

Deceased is a nephew, Patrick Clutter.

New Eagle woman enjoyed family camping trips

Gladys M. Fabin, 77, of New Eagle, died Friday, August 30, 2013, in Jefferson Hills Manor.

She was born October 25, 1935, in New Eagle, a daughter of Truxall and Effie Bittinger Mayhew.

Mrs. Fabin was a member of First Christian Church, Monongahela.

She loved children and, besides her own, raised many more in and around the neighborhood. She, her husband, Stanley, and the Fabin family would enjoy going on camping trips. She enjoyed watching sports, especially when it came to watching her grandsons play football. She loved cooking, baking, dancing, crossword puzzles, word searches, bingo and playing cards.

Surviving are a son, Stanley A. Fabin Jr. of New Eagle; daughter Cindy Lu Cialone of Uniontown; three grandsons, Justin N. Fabin and wife Chrissy, Joshua S. Cialone and wife Michelle and Zachary A. Cialone; granddaughter Amy Jo Cialone; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Fabin, and one on the way; a son-in-law, Anthony Cialone of Carroll Township; a brother-in-law, Steve Fabin and wife Ann of Eighty Four; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Fabin and Mildred Fabin, both of New Eagle, and Irene Popovich and husband Mike of Scenery Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Stanley A. Fabin, who died April 18, 1997, and a brother, Buddy Mayhew.

Private duty nurse enjoyed baking, knitting

Wanda Lee Lynch, 86, of Hanover, Md., formerly of Washington, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Morningside House of Friendship, Hanover.

She was born February 8, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va., daughter of the Rev. Huey A. and Maude O. Gillispie.

Mrs. Lynch was a member of Washington Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Grace Point Community Church of the Nazarene in Glen Burnie, Md.

She was a licensed practical nurse, serving as a private duty nurse.

Mrs. Lynch enjoyed baking and knitting, winning multiple blue ribbons for her afghans and sweaters at the Washington County Fair.

She was a member of Lagonda Neighborhood Club and Lagonda Homemakers’ Association.

On March 23, 1942, in Connellsville, she married Walter L. Lynch, who died August 25, 2011.

Surviving are three sons, Walter L. (Elsie) Lynch II of Marriottsville, Md., Charles H. (Linda) Lynch of Glen Burnie and David P. (Esther) Lynch of Long Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Odessa (Tom) Shanahan of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her loving husband of 69 years and parents, are a son, Roger Albert Lynch, and a brother, Huey A. Gillispie Jr.

Former Somerset Township supervisor

John “Jack” Moore, 81, of Eighty Four, Somerset Township, died Friday, August 30, 2013, in his home.

He was born September 28, 1931, in Washington County, a son of the late Fred and Edna Miller Moore.

On April 13, 1952, he married Barbara Grimm, who survives.

Mr. Moore was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He served from 1952 to 1954 as a mechanic.

For 25 years, he served as a Somerset Township supervisor and was previously employed by Bethlehem Mines Corp., working for more than 13 years at Mine 58 in Marianna.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and collecting glassware.

Mr. Moore was a lifelong member of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, National Duncan Miller Society and Sunset Lodge 623 Free and Accepted Masons.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three grandchildren, Thaddeus Magyar of Washington and Nicole Magyar and Chris Magyar, both of Eighty Four; two great-grandchildren, Alice and Avery Magyar; three sisters, Mary Zavislak, Mildred Wright and Margaret Goughenour, all of Eighty Four; a brother, Charles L. Moore of Melbourne, Fla.; two half sisters, Edna Mae Lauderbaugh Gibson of Sharon and Jeanie Lauderbaugh Woods of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Alice Magyar, who died December 25, 2002; a son-in-law, Jack Magyar, who died June 22, 2001; and two brothers, Clarence “Hump” and Fred B. Moore.

Member, “Pierogi Lady” at St. Ann Church

Helen L. Prebeg Navoski, 89, of Bulger, passed away August 31, 2013, in Townview Health and Rehab Center, Canonsburg.

She was born July 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Slavko and Mary Sherson Prebeg.

On July 24, 1945, she married John Paul Navoski, who survives.

Also surviving are a brother, John Prebeg of McDonald; a sister, Margaret Puchany of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Michael Prebeg, and a sister, Marie Schons.

Mrs. Navoski was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Bulger, where she was a member of its Christian Mothers and was one of the “Pierogi Ladies.”

Member of St. Ann Church

Mary Jane Osso, 77, of Waynesburg, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

She was born November 6, 1935, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Carmina Guglielmo Osso.

Mrs. Osso was a 1953 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

Following graduation, she was employed by the Opera House Theater and Observer-Reporter in Waynesburg. In 1962, she moved to Pittsburgh, and was employed as an executive secretary by Reynolds Metals Corp., Dravo Corp. and Copperweld Corp. In 1972, she moved to Pompano, Fla., and was employed by Farber and Co., a developer of shopping malls, as Pompano Square Mall was being developed.

Because of failing health, she returned to Waynesburg in 1989. She was a resident of Rolling Meadows Nursing Home for the past seven years.

Mrs. Osso was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg.

Surviving are a sister, Elaine O. Puglia; three sons and their families, Paul Puglia and wife Cynthia of Davidson, N.C., and their two children, Kathleen and Zachary, Larry Puglia and wife Sandra of Lutherville, Md., and their two children, John and Elizabeth, and Joe Puglia and wife Marijon of Birmingham, Ala., and their three children, Frances, Joseph and Camilla; and a brother, Herman Osso and wife Jean of Waynesburg and their two children, Jonathon Osso of Pittsburgh and Amy Julius and husband Christopher of Fairfax, Va., and daughter Sophia.

Homemaker enjoyed baking and cooking

Thelma V. Power, 91, of Scenery Hill, formerly of Beallsville, died Friday, August 30, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born April 22, 1922, in Georges, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Myrtle Crable Barkley.

Mrs. Power was a 1939 graduate of Uniontown High School.

A homemaker, she enjoyed baking and cooking. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.

Surviving are four children, Norman Clinton Power Jr. (Thank’) of Union City, Calif., Linda K. Turley of Blairsville, Richard “Budsy” Power (Annette) of Brownsville and Nancy E. Mock (David) of Scenery Hill; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Norman Clinton “Bolivar” Power Sr., died December 23, 1988.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are five brothers, Clyde, Harry, Ray, Charles and Danny Barkley.

Mrs. Power was the last of her immediate family.

Navy veteran, beloved father

Roger A. Rigatti, 82, of Bridgeville, formerly of Library and Bethel Park, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 31, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor Nursing Home.

He was the husband of Grace; beloved father of Jacquiline (Steve), Robert (Jan) and Thomas (Kathy); grandfather of Thomas B., Mia, Brandon, Edward and Eron; and great-grandfather of six.

Mr. Rigatti was a veteran of the U.S. Navy (corpsman) during the Korean War conflict.

He worked for more than 30 years for Universal Cyclops Corp. in Bridgeville.

Walter S. “Sandy” Spragg II, 82, born April 26, 1931, and longtime resident of Carroll Township, Monongahela, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

Deceased are his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Sprowls Spragg; wife Alice Hammond Spragg; and brother Jesse Addison Spragg.

He graduated from Mercersburg Academy, Bucknell University and Dickinson Law School.

Mr. Spragg practiced law and was involved in other businesses in the Mon Valley, including Donora Lumber Co.

He was an avid reader, Steelers fan and enjoyed playing golf and poker. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are a daughter, Betsy (Matt) Geherin of Rochester, N.Y.; a son, W. Scott (Anne) Spragg III of Orlando, Fla.: six grandchildren; and Liz Reisinger Spragg.

Janet Lynn VanKirk, 53, of Scenery Hill, died Friday, August 30, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 23, 1960, in Washington, a daughter of Kemp Jr. and Mary Theakston Lynn.

Mrs. VanKirk was a 1978 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School. She went on to cosmetology school.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mrs. VanKirk enjoyed riding motorcycles and gardening and was an avid Penguins and Steelers fan. She always looked forward to vacationing in Myrtle Beach with her family.

On November 2, 1985, she married Mark E. VanKirk, with whom she has shared 27 years of marriage.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are a daughter, Miranda Lynn VanKirk of Scenery Hill; a sister, Yvonne K. Plute (Martin) of Scenery Hill; and two nieces, Carli Lynn Plute and Kelsey Marie Plute.

Decorated Army veteran

Charles “Yogi” Yeager, 78, Carmichaels, died Friday, August 30, 2013, in Kane Regional Center, Pittsburgh.

He was born September 2, 1934, in Waynesburg, the son of the late Jesse and Mildred Chaney Yeager.

On October 21, 1955, he married Sonia Varesko, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia Yeager (Steve Rhome); a grandson, Michael J. Yeager; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Michael Yeager, Dana Patterson (Larry) and Haley Patterson.

Mr. Yeager was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He worked as a farmer and a coal miner at Nemacolin Mine and retired from R.G. Johnson Co. mine shaft construction.
