Teacher was advocate for special needs children

Jocelyn Marie Tsosie, 27, of Waynesburg, formerly of East Berlin, died unexpectedly at 11:32 a.m. Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 17, 1985, in Chinle, Ariz., a daughter of Timothy E. and Kathleen Ann Hanley Myers of East Berlin.

Ms. Tsosie was a 2004 graduate of Bermudian Springs High School in York Springs and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Waynesburg University. She was working toward her master’s degree at California University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Tsosie was a special education teacher for the past five years at Greene County Career and Technology Center in Waynesburg, and was an advocate for special needs children. She was passionate about her students’ success, not only in school, but their personal lives as well.

Ms. Tsosie was known by her family and friends to be a fun-loving, happy, kind, spirited, warm and sweet young lady who enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a smile that would “light up the room.” She was loved and adored by her family, especially her grandparents.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Brianna E. Tsosie of Hanover; her paternal grandfather, Lester E. Myers of East Berlin; aunts and uncles Dorothy Hanley of Chicago, Ill., John Hanley and his wife, Leah, of Clarksville, William Hanley of Garards Fort, Patricia Hanley of Carnegie, Nancy McIntire and her husband, Doug, and Mary Hanley, all of Greensboro, Tom Myers and his wife, Betsy, of Hanover, Darlene Eisenhart of York, Donna Dull, Dave Myers and his wife, Karen, and John Myers, all of East Berlin; and many cousins.

Deceased are her paternal grandmother, Fairy Hamme Myers, and her maternal grandparents, William P. and Shirley Wilson Hanley.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Saturday, December 7, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels. The Rev. Bruce R. Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
