1932 – 2013
Lena Mae Adrian, 81, of Cameron, W.Va., died at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in her home.
She was born May 27, 1932, in Greene County, a daughter of the late William Edward Rush and Olive Theo Hewitt Rush Webb.
Mrs. Adrian resided in Buckhannon, W.Va., for several years prior to moving to Marshall County in 1963.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Cameron.
Mrs. Adrian was a 1951 graduate of the former Richhill Township High School in Wind Ridge, and earned her licensed practical nurse certification from the former B.M. Spurr Memorial School of Nursing in Glen Dale, W.Va., in 1972.
She was last employed as an LPN at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale for seven years, prior to retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Adrian was a member of the OES Chapter 18 for over 50 years and also a member of Temple 134 of the Pythian Sisters, both in Buckhannon.
On July 5, 1951, she married Jack Carl Adrian, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela, wife of Mark Wendell of French Creek, W.Va., and Sherry, wife of Tim Mackley of Coolville, Ohio; a son, Jack C. Adrian Jr., husband of Penny Adrian of Buckhannon; four grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Jeff and Brandon; two stepgrandchildren, Jason and Kristin; three great-grandchildren, Madyson, Taylor and Lenyn; and a brother, William E. Rush Jr., husband of Katherine Rush of Alliance, Ohio.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Loved cats and raising chickens
Carol D. Bell, 67, of West Finley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Monday, December 2, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 17, 1946, in Washington, a daughter of the late Warren and Georgia Salsbury Zimmerman.
She was the beloved mother of Dawna Ribel of Claysville and Lee Bell of Canonsburg; cherished sister of Judy Flanigan of Washington, Linda Grimm of West Finley, Jean Stevens of Washington, Sheri Adams of West Finley, Warren Zimmerman of Washington and Jon Michael Zimmerman of Burgettstown; dear grandmother of Jessica Bell of South Korea, Melinda Nicolas of Washington and John Ribel V of Claysville.
Ms. Bell loved her cats and raising her chickens. She enjoyed reading her books, sewing and cooking. She also treasured the flowers in her garden.

Loretta E. Bostich, 76, of Ellsworth, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born April 8, 1937, in Donora, a daughter of the late Felice and Mary Frazetta Botticelli.
Mrs. Bostich was a 1955 graduate of Donora High School.
She was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville.
Mrs. Bostich loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Steeler, Pirates and Penguins fan.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Bostich (Amy) of Coal Center, Doug Bostich of Bentleyville and Jeffrey Bostich (Cassandra) of Ellsworth; a daughter, Kelly Cunko (Trent) of Richeyville; five grandchildren, Jessica Dean, Kaitlin Dean, Trent Cunko Jr., Christian Bostich and Jennie Bostich; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jenna and Liam; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, George Bostich, who died June 20, 2004; a son, Phillip Peter Bostich; and two brothers, Phillip and Richard Botticelli.
Mrs. Bostich was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will be in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.

Frances Schipps Crawford, 85, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Eighty Four, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, with her family at her side.

Worked as an auto mechanic
Peter Michael Gozik, 57, of Fallowfield Township, Charleroi, died Friday, November 29, 2013, in his home.
He was born March 19, 1956, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Peter Gozik and Margaret Ann Beck Gozik.
Mr. Gozik attended South Park High School and worked as an auto mechanic.
Surviving are three daughters, Ashley Gozik and Danielle Gozik, both of Georgia, and Melissa Gozik of Florida; and two grandchildren, Rusty Samuel McDuffie and Jaelynn Eve Plantier.
Deceased is a sister, Cynthia L. Gozik.

Veteran was avid golfer
Raymond Stanley Grudi, 74, of Canonsburg, died Monday, December 2, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was born November 27, 1939, in Washington, a son of Theodore John Grudi and Susan Alice Jurkovsky.
Mr. Grudi was a Washington High School graduate and attended University of Wisconsin.
He was a banking officer at Mellon Bank for 36 years.
Mr. Grudi was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Washington County Council on Economic Development for five years. He was an avid golfer, coached youth baseball and enjoyed hunting.
On May 19, 1962, he married Judith Ann McGrew Grudi, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Also surviving are four sons, Ray (Tracey) Grudi Jr. of Thomasville, Steven (Michelle) Grudi of Herndon, Va., Jeffrey A. Grudi of Washington and Brian (Kelley) Grudi of Venetia; a sister, Josephine Jeffries of Washington; and six grandchildren, Erica, Hannah, Addyson, Neal, Cole and Riley.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Gary P. Hamilton, 68, of Washington, died Monday, December 2, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1945, in Washington, a son of Percy E. and F. Geneva Andrew Hamilton.
He is survived by his sister, Lori H. Scott, of Arlington, Va.

Enjoyed helping others, fishing and riding quad
Beth Ann Haring, 33, of Mather, died unexpectedly Monday, December 2, 2013, in Southwest Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 25, 1980, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Charles J. and Barbara J. Hart Haring.
She was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
Ms. Haring was a homemaker who resided most of her life in Mather.
She was a member of Resurrection Bible Church at Swarts. She enjoyed helping others, fishing and riding her quad.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a son, Matthew Haring, at home; her fiancée, Roger Gray of Mather; stepsons Andrew and Casey Gray of Mather; her paternal grandparents, Margaret Halsey of Jefferson and Charles James Haring Sr., of Waynesburg; a sister, Tabitha Lynn Haring of Mather; a brother, James Lee Haring of Mather; two nieces and two nephews.
Deceased are a son, Tyler Christopher Powell, and her maternal grandparents, Frances and Howard Hart.

World War II veteran
Joseph Jemison, 89, of Westland, died Friday, November 29, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born October 23, 1924, in Montgomery, Ala., a son of the late Belle Love, David Jemison and stepmother, Dorothy.
Mr. Jemison worked in Westland Mine, for Cleveland Forest Foundry and as a cab driver in Cleveland.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Jemison loved watching football and The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
Surviving are a companion, Edith Jemison; two stepchildren, Patricia Partee of Carnegie and Toni Jemison of Houston; four grandchildren, Mark Jemison, Angela Kelley, Brian Jemison and Jackie Jemison; three stepgrandchildren, Cameron and Diamond Partee and China Jemison; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Dave Jemison of Modesto, Calif.; five sisters, Marie Wallace of Youngstown, Ohio, Mary Kemp of Canonsburg, and Freda Kemp, Fran Johnson and Ann Graves (Alvin), all of Westland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sons and a stepson.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with the Rev. Joyce Moten and the Rev. Melanie Davis officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 combined honor guard.

Devoted wife, loving mother
Louise M. Rotunda, 92, a lifelong resident of Washington, joined her Lord Sunday, December 1, 2013.
She was born February 2, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of the late Lucinda and Angeline Vertucci Marchione.
Mrs. Rotunda valued her independence and loved to stay home, preferring people to visit her, rather than traveling herself.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother.
On December 23, 1945, she married Joseph Rotunda Sr., who died July 15, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph L. (Patricia) Rotunda of Austin, Texas, and Frank R. Rotunda of Mars; a stepdaughter, Joanne Rotunda Chmeloveski of Wintersville, Ohio; two sisters, Amelia Rotunda and Florence Nicolella; three grandchildren, Joseph J., Christopher and Alyson Rotunda; three stepgrandchildren, Michael, Rick and Tommy Chmeloveski; and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a sister, Elvera Marchione Barbella and a grandson, Matthew Rotunda.

Irene Salansky, 81, of Atlasburg, died Monday, December 2, 2013, in Humbert Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Washington.
She was born September 21, 1932, in Colliers, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Mary Bzdil Maczko.
On December 19, 1953, she married Peter Salansky, who died September 5, 2013.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Salansky was employed by Delfrates Meats in Slovan.
She was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Avella.
Mrs. Salansky enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Mark (Victoria) Salansky of Atlasburg; a sister, Pauline Reid; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are four brothers, Frank, John, Mike and Steve Maczko; and three sisters, Mary Schultz, Florence Giacomel and Helen Nicola.

Teacher was advocate for special needs children
Jocelyn Marie Tsosie, 27, of Waynesburg, formerly of East Berlin, died unexpectedly at 11:32 a.m. Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 17, 1985, in Chinle, Ariz., a daughter of Timothy E. and Kathleen Ann Hanley Myers of East Berlin.
Ms. Tsosie was a 2004 graduate of Bermudian Springs High School in York Springs and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Waynesburg University. She was working toward her master’s degree at California University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Tsosie was a special education teacher for the past five years at Greene County Career and Technology Center in Waynesburg, and was an advocate for special needs children. She was passionate about her students’ success, not only in school, but their personal lives as well.
Ms. Tsosie was known by her family and friends to be a fun-loving, happy, kind, spirited, warm and sweet young lady who enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a smile that would “light up the room.” She was loved and adored by her family, especially her grandparents.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Brianna E. Tsosie of Hanover; her paternal grandfather, Lester E. Myers of East Berlin; aunts and uncles Dorothy Hanley of Chicago, Ill., John Hanley and his wife, Leah, of Clarksville, William Hanley of Garards Fort, Patricia Hanley of Carnegie, Nancy McIntire and her husband, Doug, and Mary Hanley, all of Greensboro, Tom Myers and his wife, Betsy, of Hanover, Darlene Eisenhart of York, Donna Dull, Dave Myers and his wife, Karen, and John Myers, all of East Berlin; and many cousins.
Deceased are her paternal grandmother, Fairy Hamme Myers, and her maternal grandparents, William P. and Shirley Wilson Hanley.

Former teacher, coach, athletic director
William H. Weir, 90, of McDonald, died Monday, December 2, 2013, in St. Clair Hospital
He was born November 23, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William and Marie Hahn Weir.
Mr. Weir was a teacher and football coach at South Fayette High School for nearly two decades, and was proud to lead the 1964 team to a WPIAL championship. He retired as athletic director for West Jefferson Hills School District, and was a member of Irons Memorial Church of McDonald.
He was a highly decorated World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Weir was an avid golfer who achieved eight holes-in-one, and was a long-time starter at Quicksilver Golf Course.
Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Peggy-Ann Martin Weir; two sons, William (Louise) Weir III of Murrysville and Doug (Deb) Weir of Venetia; grandchildren Megan Levan, Martin Weir, Ben Weir, Morgan Evans and Kaitlyn Washko; and six great-grandchildren.

Known for his curiosity, generosity, sense of humor
Gerard “Gerry” Arnoth Weiss, 100, of Washington, died peacefully December 2, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
Born February 3, 1913, in Lansdale, he grew up in Irvington and North Tarrytown, N.Y., and lived in Tarrytown, Rome and White Plains, N.Y., and Berlin, Germany. In 2004, he moved with his wife, Emily, to Washington to be near his son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Nancy Weiss.
Married to Emily Hubbel of Tarrytown, Mr. Weiss was a devoted husband and loving father of five children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Weiss celebrated their “month-aversary” every month throughout their 68-year marriage.
A graduate of Columbia University and Law School, Mr. Weiss was admitted to the New York State bar at the age of 21. He practiced law for nearly 70 years, including his 1945 Berlin assignment, where he investigated the war crimes of the huge chemical corporation, IG Farben.
He was known for his curiosity, generosity and sense of humor.
Mr. Weiss was an active church member and a member of Washington Fortnightly Club, where he presented his last talk at the age of 96.
He was an avid golfer, tennis player and pingpong player.
Surviving are children John (Elaine) Weiss, Rod (Nancy) Weiss, Star (Russ) Fuoco, Emily (William) McClung and Bonnie Weiss; niece Phyllis Allen; nephew Robert Hubbel; grandchildren Amity Weiss, Polly (Marcia Ramoutar) Weiss, Holly (Dean) Broadland, Kristi Fuoco, Greg and Melissa McClung, Mark, James, Richard (Amanda), Ehrich and Arthur Gauvin; and great-grandchildren Sophia and Eleanor Broadland and Leo Gauvin.
In February 2013, the family gathered joyfully to celebrate Mr. Weiss’ 100th birthday.
A memorial service will be held in Westchester County, New York, at a later date.
