Elburn Henderson
Army vet, avid sportsman
Elburn “Hoobie” Henderson, 89, died Friday, November 30, 2013, in his home.
He was born June 14, 1924, in Daybrook, W.Va., a son of James Dewey Henderson and Lovie Margaret Moore.
Mr. Henderson was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Taylorstown American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927.
He was employed at Metro Glass and Ball Glass as a hot end supervisor.
Mr. Henderson was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting. He was a lifetime member of Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club.
On August 15, 1964, he married Mabel Levers, who died January 15, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald K. (Frances) Henderson of Claysville and William J. (Katy) Henderson of Cleveland, Ohio; two stepsons, George Roger (Carol) Levers of Palm Meadows, Fla., and Harry (Elaine) Levers of Fortville, Ind.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and will be sadly missed by his niece, Patty Wise.
Deceased are two sons, Jack and Bob Henderson; a stepson, Walt Levers; a brother, Titus Q. Henderson; and a sister, Nellie Ruth Jackson.
A graveside service will held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 7, in North Buffalo Cemetery, Washington. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Military honors will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
