Loved spending time with family

Helen F. Harkins, 83, of Waynesburg, passed away peacefully in her home Friday, December 6, 2013, after a lengthy illness with lung cancer.

She was born November 20, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph and Mary Blank.

Her husband, Charles W. Harkins, passed away in 1993.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Pat) Wise of Waynesburg and Beverly (Ray) Skwarek of Richland, Wash.; a son, Charles “Bill” Harkins of Washington; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Linken, Laura Harkins, Amanda (Derek) Bochna, Ryan (Ashley) Wise, Matthew (Jennifer) Jusino and Lacy Skwarek; two great-grandchildren, Railey and Logan Bochna; two stepgrandchildren, Megan Martin and Laura Skwarek; and a stepgreatgrandson, Philip Belcher.

Mrs. Harkins was one of nine children. Surviving are two sisters, Barbara Bierwirth of Olathe, Kan., and Linda (Bruce) Meeks of Cumberland, Md.

Deceased is a son, Bradley J. Harkins.

Mrs. Harkins was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg.

She was a homemaker and worked at Greenway Manufacturing Co. She loved playing bingo, and especially loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 6 p.m., the time of a prayer service, Monday, December 9, in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg. The Rev. Richard J. Thompson will officiate.
