Truck driver served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm
Robert F. Young, 56, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, in the home of his sister, Libby.
He was born July 13, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late Charles R. and Elizabeth Jean Bennett Young.
Mr. Young was a 1976 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Houston.
Mr. Young was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
He enjoyed fishing and driving.
During his term in the Army, he was a truck driver and was employed as a truck driver for Valley Bulk.
Surviving are a son, Robert F. Young Jr. of Oakdale; a daughter, Nicole Ann Doss of Washington; four grandchildren, Jessie Robert Young, Wyatt Anthony Young, Ryker Blaze Young and Myla Coral Young; a sister, Elizabeth Anne “Libby” Young, with whom he resided; two brothers, Charles R. Young (Audra) of Washington and Leon A. Young (Linda) of Washington; a nephew; two nieces; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, in First United Presbyterian Church, Houston, with the Rev. Clarejean Haury officiating. Interment will be private.
