Virginia Bakewell Chabricky Whiting, 90, of Fredericktown, formerly of Centerville, died Saturday, December 7, 2013, in Lasosky’s Personal Care Home.

She was born April 10, 1923, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Albert and Rachel Ann Meese Bakewell.

For many years, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Ansel in California.

Mrs. Whiting was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church and Centerville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed bingo, baking and cooking. She was always cleaning and taking care of her home.

Surviving are four daughters, Melva Kennedy (Robert) of Belle Vernon, Sue Jenkins (Tom) of Centerville, Sandra Johannas (Nick) of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Colbert (Grant) of Millsboro; two sons, Richard Whiting of Belle Vernon and Phillip Whiting of Carmichaels; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are her first husband, Albert William Chabricky; her second husband, Melvin “Buck” Whiting; a son, William Chabricky; five brothers, Jack, Irvin, Chris, Boyd and James Bakewell; and eight sisters, Faith Bakewell, Hope Bakewell, Charity Bakewell, Betty Frost, Ruth Boyle, Helen Theakston, Beatrice Byrd and Cecil Fulmer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 12, with Pastor Melissa Geisler officiating.
