Lifelong resident of New Eagle

Arbutus Mae “Sis” Himich, 82, of New Eagle, died Sunday, December 15, 2013, in her home.

She was born August 12, 1931, in New Eagle, a daughter of Charles Francis Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Smail Rice.

Mrs. Himich was a lifelong resident of New Eagle and a member of Riverview Baptist Church. She retired after 20 years of employment from Halpern (Halco) Sewing Factory in New Eagle.

She enjoyed bowling and taking trips to the casino.

Surviving are two daughters and a son, Carol Fitch and husband Jeffrey, with whom she made her home, Leland Himich and wife Jodie of Elizabeth and Carla Cavanaugh and husband Jerry of Bentleyville; eight grandchildren, Nichole Suarez and husband Ralph, Melissa Koval and husband Michael, Shawn Fitch, Ryan and Brooke Himich, Brenna, Trent and Jacob Cavanaugh; four great-grandchildren, Savannah and Hunter Suarez and Chase and Ryker Koval; two brothers, James Rice and wife Helen and Samuel Rice and wife Belinda; and a sister, Ruth Ann Gregg and husband William, all of New Eagle.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Albert Himich, who died February 3, 2004; a brother, Charles Rice Jr.; and two sisters, Juanita Subasick and Alice Jane Burgan.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 19, with the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
