John F. Duda Sr., 67, of Coal Center, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in North Charleroi December 3, 1946, a son of Margaret A. Marconyak Duda, who survives and resides in Rostraver Township and the late Chester A. Duda Sr.

Mr. Duda worked for Operating Engineers Local 66 and was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hating the world. His biggest interest was his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Linda I. McCall Duda; four children, Charlotte Duda of Coal Center, John F. (Rebecca) Duda Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Rachel (Mark) Abel of Fallowfield Township and Matthew A. (Nicole) Duda of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren, Cecilia Duda, Sophia Duda, Lillian Duda, Caroline Abel and Noah Mast; three brothers, Chester A. Duda Jr. of Rostraver, Joseph J. Duda of Mt. Morris and Michael J. Duda of Rostraver; and three sisters, Julie (Robert) Malena of Rostraver, Margaret (Robert) Scharback of Long Island, N.Y. and Cathy (Borhan) Karimi of Virginia.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. U.S. Navy veteran

L. Keith Emmerling, 69, of Venetia, died Friday, December 13, 2013, in his home.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia “Trish”; dearly loved father and stepfather of Jeffrey Emmerling (Melissa), Elisabeth “Elissa” Emmerling, Jennifer Munns, Jill Stepnicka (Bob), Laura Skinner (Matt), John Munns (Christi) and Brigid Crawford (Nick); brother of the late Kenneth Emmerling; and grandfather of Ethan, Logan, Jackson, Eva, Emerson, Scarlett, Kenley and Sawyer.

Mr. Emmerling was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. After retiring from Thomas Jefferson High School after 36 years, he became a congregational care pastor at Peters Creek Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday in David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (Route 88), Library. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, in Peters Creek Baptist Church, South Park Township. Everyone please meet at the church.

Devoted husband, father and grandfather

Charles P. Farulli, 70, of Burgettstown, went home to spend Christmas with Jesus Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

He was born April 19, 1943, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Vance and Mary Suder Farulli.

Mr. Farulli was a steelworker, retiring from Washington Steel after 30 years of service.

He was a 1961 graduate of Burgettstown (Union) High School and attended California College.

Mr. Farulli was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown and Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees.

He loved reading, sports, fishing, hunting, The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, traveling and “malling” in many shopping centers in the United States. He also enjoyed going to the grocery store and maintaining his vehicles. His most important priority in life was always his family, as he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

On September 14, 1963, he married Linda Lou Dunay, who died July 4, 2012.

Surviving are a daughter, Andrea L. (David) Alex of Weirton, W.Va.; a son, Charles P. (Jeannine) Farulli Jr. of Newport News, Va.; a grandson, Vincent Farulli of Newport News; two stepgrandchildren, Hannah and Tyler Pollock; and two sisters, Roseanne Farulli of Burgettstown and Mary Margaret “Mimi” Madden of Weirton.

Deceased, in addition to his parents and his wife, is an infant brother, Vincent.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Burgettstown, with the Rev. George Moneck, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Enjoyed roller skating

William Leonard “Lee” Henderson, 54, of Waynesburg, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in his home.

He was born Saturday, January 3, 1959, in Waynesburg, a son of Opal Anderson Henderson of Graysville and the late David L. Henderson.

Mr. Henderson enjoyed roller skating and was a former Graysville fireman.

He worked for 10 years for GPX Corp. in Cranberry Township as a laborer. He was presently employed by Carmichaels Golf Club as a groundskeeper, having worked there for 16 years. He also worked on the weekends at Waynesburg Roller Rink.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Jessie Mae Henderson of Rices Landing; three sons, William Leonard Henderson Jr. of Republic, Nicholas R. Henderson of Jefferson and Christopher Lee Henderson of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Frank J. Glover, Jaycee Ray Herrod and Nicholas Christopher Henderson; a sister, Darlene (David) Wilson of Waynesburg; four brothers, David A. (Cathy) Henderson of Mather, Randy Henderson of Waynesburg, John (Donna) Henderson of Wind Ridge and Todd Henderson of Graysville; and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation. The family will hold a public memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 22, in Graysville fire hall. Burial will be private. Enjoyed crocheting, the outdoors and bonfires

Sandra W. “Sando” Clayton Howard, 49, of Claysville, died unexpectedly Monday, December 16, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was born February 1, 1964, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Clyde “Sonny” Clayton and Beulah Wyvonne Gaines Leonard.

She had resided in Valley Grove, W.Va., prior to moving to West Finley Township, Washington County.

Ms. Howard attended Waynesburg High School.

She was employed most of her working life as a bartender and was last employed in housekeeping at Comfort Inn & Suites.

Ms. Howard was a member of a Triadelphia, W.Va., pool league and enjoyed crocheting, the outdoors and bonfires. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving are three daughters, Arieal Star Jones, wife of Brian Jones of West Alexander, Amanda Miller of Lawrenceberg, Tenn., and Destiny Howard, companion of Chris Clutter of West Finley Township; two sons, Charles Montgomery, companion of Melody Ware of Spraggs, and Anthony, husband of Kayla Moretti of Mercer; two brothers, Howard, husband of Kay Gaines of Billing, Mont., and Jay Leonard Jr., husband of Melonie Leonard of Clarksville; six sisters, Helen, wife of Kenneth Kirby of Clarksville, Kathleen, wife of Edward Hines of Brownsville, Pearleen, wife of Bill Spencer of Ohio, Earnestine, wife of James Coger of Carmichaels, and Donna Gaines and Alma, wife of Michael Gray, both of Prosperity; five grandchildren; stepfather Jay Leonard Sr. of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Imogene Gaines, and a brother, Clyde Gaines.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the time of funeral and committal services, Friday, December 20, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, with the Rev. Pastor Bruce Judy officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Enjoyed puzzles and soap operas

Beverly “Jean” Lambright, 85, of Washington, formerly of Holbrook, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013.

She was born May 13, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of the late Robert Wylie Mosier and Clara Estella Matthews.

Ms. Lambright was a homemaker and enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and watching soap operas.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Jody Lambright, Barbara Kissell, Toni Phillips, Billie Sue Searback and Barry Standiford; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Deceased are a brother, William M. Mosier, and two sisters, Kathryn L. Standiford and Norma D. Lambright.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.

Veteran, musician was McGuffey superintendent

Joseph William Long, 90, of Washington, died Friday, December 13, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

Mr. Long was a longtime educator who loved his family dearly. He spent his life serving others, working with children and welcoming people from all walks of life into his life with open arms, or, quite likely, the “wood-cutters handshake” and a quick joke.

He was born April 15, 1923, in Lock Haven, to John Franklin Long and Esther McCormick Long.

Mr. Long was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe as a chaplain’s assistant in the U.S. Army. He earned his master’s degree from Penn State University and went on to serve as the superintendent of McGuffey School District for 12 years.

Mr. Long loved music and played the organ and piano in both the Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Claysville.

On August 24, 1954, he married his wife of 59 years, Sarah Mapstone, who survives. After his retirement, they started and ran two small businesses together in the local area.

Also surviving are three daughters, Amy Lough (Donald) of Wheeling, W.Va., Mindy Little of Washington and Cindy Long of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren Jared Lough, Derek Little (Mary Kate), Grant Dunham, Barrett Little (Sarah), Courtney Lough, Caleb Little, Ryan Dunham and Maggie Little; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Little and Haven Lough.

Deceased are two brothers, Edward and John Long; a sister, Florence Shollenberger; and a son-in-law, Dr. Marshall Little.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, in Claysville Presbyterian Church.

Webster veteran valued family time

Andrew J. Pugliesi, 66, of Webster, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born in Brownsville April 24, 1947, he was a son of the late Andrew and Margaret Regal Pugliesi.

Mr. Pugliesi worked as an electrician at USX-Clairton from 1966 to 1982 and at M&K Electric Monongahela from 1984 to 1990 and retired from Merit Contracting Inc. in 2010.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the Cruising with Celebrity cruise. He really enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and son.

Mr. Pugliesi was a member of Church of St. Anne in Rostraver and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47, Uniontown.

He served in the U.S. Army as an SP4 from 1966 to 1968 and was discharged in 1972.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. Schimonsky Pugliesi; a son, Andrew J. Pugliesi Jr. of Webster; two daughters, Angela M. (Shawn) Walters of Belle Vernon and Danielle R. Pugliesi of Webster; four grandchildren, Scott A. Shetterly, Andrew “A.J.” Shetterly, Destyni L. Henry and Dustin R. Pugliesi; mother-in-law Rose Schimonsky of Brownsville; sisters and brothers-in-law Patty (Henry) Bittner III of Uniontown, Rosie (Mark) Rambo of Uniontown, Roileen Schimmel of New Salem, Lei (John) Perozich of Pittsburgh and Lyn Crabb of Pittsburgh; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his father-in-law, Roy Schimonsky; brother-in-law, Bill Crabb; future son-in-law Mark Baxter; and nephew Zachary “Rambo” Johnson.

50-year St. Oliver Plunkett Parish member

Marcella “Marcy” Los Trout, 76, of Fredericktown, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

She was born November 20, 1937, in Scenery Hill, a daughter of the late Louis J. and Mary J. Buday Los.

Mrs. Trout was a 1956 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial Business/Technical School, Washington.

For several years, she was employed as a secretary to the engineers at Continental Can in Washington.

Mrs. Trout was a member of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown, for more than 50 years.

She enjoyed flower gardening and going to local casinos. Traveling with her husband on several cruises, especially to Alaska, brought her special enjoyment.

On May 13, 1961, she married George E. Trout, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Raymond L. Trout of Moon Township and David J. Trout and wife Kellie of Frederick, Md.; a brother, Joseph Los and wife Doris of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Louise Mosier of Washington; and a niece and two nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Louis Los, who died in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Donald Mosier.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Archangel Church, Fredericktown, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach as celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. A parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
