Supermarket owner enjoyed cooking
Wilma Kathryn Burke Farace, 96, of Mt. Morris, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Thursday, September 27, 1917, in Blacksville, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Burke and Mamie Patterson Burke.
Mrs. Farace was a member of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Morgantown. She was a graduate of Blacksville High School and a member of the James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992, Mt. Morris. She always enjoyed cooking.
She and her husband owned and operated the Mt. Morris Supermarket, retiring in 1980.
Her husband, Anthony Joseph Farace, died March 2, 1983.
Surviving are a daughter, Dolores Jean (Andy) Rafus of Morgantown; a son, retired Capt. Dr. Anthony Joseph Farace Jr., of Mt. Morris, who served in the U.S. Navy; a granddaughter, Andrea Michele Rafus; a sister, Anna Ruth Moore of Blacksville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Aldine Burke, and a brother, Charles E. Burke.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mount Morris, PA 15349, where there will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 28, in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, W.Va., with Father John V. DiBacco Jr. as celebrant. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508, or St. Ursula Food Pantry and Outreach, P.O. Box 18, Pursglove, WV 26546.
