Freda Irene Szotkowski, 89, of Washington, died Monday, December 30, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born January 15, 1924, in Pleasant Grove, a daughter of Harry Guy Ross and Lorena Worrell Ross.
Mrs. Szotkowski worked for many years at Henderson Avenue Foodland, which was her family’s business.
She was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church and the Elks.
Mrs. Szotkowski enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed traveling after her retirement.
On January 5, 1947, she married Henry Stanley Szotkowski, who died September 1, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Gareis of Bulger and Sharon (Harold) Shrum of Toms River, N.J.; a sister, Jean Silvers; three grandchildren, Brad Garris, Holly Kerwin and Heather Malloy; and five great-grandchildren, Brian, Jake, Samantha, Lina and Paddy.
Deceased are a brother, Delmar Ross, and a sister, Lucille Ewing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4. Burial is private and held at the convenience of the family.
