Ronald M. Hostovich, 71, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, died Monday, December 30, 2013, in Donnell House Hospice Center, Washington.
He was born June 28, 1942, in Peters Township, a son of Michael A. and Irene Hajnos Hostovich.
At the age of 11, he began working at the family business, Brookwood Nursery and Landscaping in Peters Township. As he began to take the business over, he moved it to Carroll Township, where he continued to run it until his health made him retire in December 2011.
Mr. Hostovich was a graduate of the former South Hills Catholic High School and was Catholic.
Even after his retirement, he enjoyed raising horses. He was a member of Quarter Horses Association and a former member of Western PA Roping Association.
Surviving are sons Dean Hostovich (Kathy Retrosi) of Peters Township and Ronald D. and Shannon Hostovich of Charleroi; a brother, Michael and wife Elaine Hostovich of Warren; a sister, Georgiann Stegenga of Eighty Four; and two grandsons, Dane and Zachary Hostovich, who were greatly influenced by him.
He also leaves behind his loving dog, Hank.
His wife, Ann M. “Dolly” Hostovich, died May 24, 2009.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, with Father William Terza officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ginger Hill. Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Hostovich’s name to American Cancer Society, Mon-Valley Relay for Life Division, P.O. Box 275, Washington, PA 15301.
