Fannie Jane Leyda Slaughter

Fannie Jane Leyda Slaughter, 85, of Wilmington, Ohio, formerly of the Bentleyville area, died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013.

She was born April 18, 1927, in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late S. Oakley Leyda and Hazel Blanche Armbruster Leyda.

Ms. Slaughter was a longtime bus driver for Wilmington city schools and the Nike Center and also worked in the cafeteria of Wilmington city schools.

She attended Cuba Friends Meeting in Cuba, Ohio.

Surviving are her children, David Forrest Slaughter of Knoxville, Tenn., Patricia Lynn Slaughter of Laporte, Colo., June Carol (Dennis) Walker of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Donna Jean (David “Mike”) Conn of Lebanon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Erin Stacey, Sheri Stacey, Trevor (Micaela) Walker, Tyler (Nicole) Walker and Tara (Barry) Pendell; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Connor Walker; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Deceased are brothers Harry, Clarence and Harold Leyda, and a sister, Irma Jean Griffith.

Friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Monday, February 11, in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255.
