Karen Louise Massari, 70, of Monongahela, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in her home with her family by her side.
She was born March 12, 1942, in New Eagle, a daughter of Louis Sr. and Mary Rose Chile Pianetti.
Mrs. Massari graduated in 1960 from Monongahela High School. After high school, she attended Robert Morris Business School.
During the 1960s, she was employed at Metropolitan Life Insurance in Monongahela as an office supervisor. She and her husband, Frank, were retail grocery owners for 30 years. Together, they owned and operated Mt. Oliver Foodland, Duquesne Save-A-Lot and Bethel Park Foodland.
Mrs. Massari enjoyed traveling, dancing, bowling and gardening. She also worked on her class reunion committee for the Class of 1960.
She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Anthony Church in Monongahela.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Frank “Shine” Massari; two daughters, Kathleen Lynn Slivan and husband James of Jefferson Hills and Lisa Antoinette Massari-Wilson and husband Kenneth of Monongahela; son, Frank Louis Massari and wife Stefanie of Finleyville; two beloved granddaughters, Sofia Elisabeth Slivan and Mia Louise Wilson; a brother, Louis Pianetti Jr. and wife Sandy of Murrysville; a sister-in-law, Shirley Massari of Monongahela; nieces and nephews Jonathan and wife Bree Pianetti and son Mason Louis of Utah, Andrew and Alaina Pianetti of Murrysville, and Anthony and wife Lexie Massari and their children, Jordan, Lacey and Alex Massari, all of Monongahela.
She will be sadly missed by Vito, Remmi, Chloe, Vinny, Lily, relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, deceased are her baby sister, Kathleen Rose Pianetti, and brother-in-law, Anthony “Moe” Massari.
At the request of the deceased, visitations and a Mass of Christian Burial were private and handled by Frye Funeral Home Inc. Interment was in Monongahela Cemetery.
