Charles Duane Kiger

Charles Duane Kiger, 76, of Waynesburg, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., following a lengthy illness.

He was born Thursday, November 26, 1936, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Ira Kiger and Louise Taylor Kiger.

Mr. Kiger was affiliated with the Moose Lodge 461, Elks Lodge 757 and James Farrell American Legion Post 330, all of Waynesburg.

He retired in 1993 from Alltel, after 28 years of service, starting as a lineman and later was a supervisor.

Surviving are his companion, Nancy Wood; a son, William C. Kiger and Denise Wonderly of Waynesburg; three sisters, Viola and Tom Bandelow of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Lou and Jack Davis of Norwalk, Ohio, and Rosaleen Kiger of Waynesburg; two brothers, William “Bud” and Oleta Kiger of Spraggs and Donald “Happy” and Diane Kiger of Wakeman, Ohio; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Charles Duane Kiger II, and a sister, Karen Sue Kiger.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A public memorial service will be held at a later date in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. The family suggests donations be made to Masontown Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461.
