G.W. “Bill” Johnson Jr., 81, of Bentleyville, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, in his home.
He was born February 26, 1931, in California, a son of the late George W. Sr. and Lylia Gallagher Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the Korean War.
He was employed as a welder for Lee-Norris in Charleroi, where we worked for 20 years before retirement.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and working in his woodshop.
Surviving are three sons, George Johnson III (Ileen) of Bentleyville, John Johnson (Joanne) of Scenery Hill and Jimmy Johnson (Mary) of Bentleyville; a brother, Glenn Johnson of California; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Opal Anna Moore Johnson, who died October 13, 2003; a son, Charles B. Johnson; two sisters, Gertrude Horn and Dorothy Lambert; a granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Johnson; and a grandson, Brian Johnson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, with the Rev. Andy Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. Full graveside military rites will be accorded by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville.
