Margaret A. Karluk
Margaret A. Karluk, 92, of Washington, died Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Country Meadows, South Fayette Township, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 29, 1920, in Poland Mines, Greene County, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Toth Vargo.
Mrs. Karluk was a graduate of Canonsburg High School Class of 1939.
For many years, she was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington.
Mrs. Karluk was an avid reader who enjoyed crocheting and doing cryptograms and crossword puzzles.
She was a bookkeeper for 33 years at the A&P Market in Canonsburg.
Along with her husband, she operated Karluk Supply in Washington for many years.
On August 6, 1966, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg, she married Frank J. Karluk, who died in 1999.
Surviving are four daughters, Cassandra (Clark) Adams of Strabane, Christine Karluk of Toledo, Ohio, Kathy (Bruce) Borelli of Eighty Four, Sharon (Randy) Miller of Pickerington, Ohio; a son, Gary (Juanita) Karluk of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Tammy, Scott, April, Crystal, Becky, Jennifer, Michelle, Melissa, Amanda and Adam; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five sisters, Margaret Zelina, Helen Dzikowski, Olga Pecharka, Helen Peterson and Veronica Cottingham and four brothers, Joseph, James, and Frank Vargo and Bill Kostar.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations go to Chartiers Houston Public Library or the Alzheimer Association.
