Margaret A. Popernack Franks, 84, of Bobtown, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born December 3, 1928, in Bobtown, a daughter of the late Andrew G. Popernack and Elizabeth Onusko Popernack.
In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Edward J. Franks Sr., in 1985, with whom she had enjoyed vacations with their family at Cape Hatteras, N.C.; son Paul L. Franks; and two brothers, Andrew Popernack Jr. and Thomas G. Popernack.
Mrs. Franks was a lifelong resident of Bobtown. She enjoyed being a resident of Point Manor Personal Care Home of Point Marion from 2008 until she came back home to Bobtown.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and Rosary Altar Society of Bobtown and Bobtown Civic Club since early 1960s. A former Girl Scout leader, she was a volunteer and advocate of the Bobtown Library and made the best halupki and date nut pinwheel cookies.
Surviving are children, Andrew S. Franks and wife Marian of Waynesburg, Edward J. Franks Jr. and wife Susie of Williamstown, W.Va., Patricia J. Brown and husband Gregory of Aliquippa, Suzanne E. Fakete and husband Thomas of Philadelphia, Cynthia L. Gaynor of Oakdale; seven grandchildren, Amy Dwyer and husband James, Jessica Lee Tidwell and husband Deke, Matthew Franks, Lauren Franks, Sarah Brown, Ethan Brown, Edward Gaynor; two great-grandchildren, Eoin and Marigny Dwyer; two sisters, Betty Longo of Greensboro and Mary Ann Kurila and husband Edward of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; two brothers, Paul Popernack and wife Margaret of Bobtown and Robert J. Popernack and wife Anna Marie of Bay Village, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Thomas B. Rudolph, funeral director and supervisor, 15 Main Street, Point Marion, and until 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, when brief prayers will be said, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Bobtown, with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. Parish vigil service will be held in the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday.
