Beatrice M. Barnhart Ankrom, 80, of Carmichaels, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg.
She was born Friday, September 9, 1932, in Rutan, a daughter of the late John T. Smith and Lucretia Inghram Smith.
Mrs. Ankrom was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles and playing cards.
Mrs. Ankrom worked as a cook at the former Chicken House Restaurant in Waynesburg and Reesman’s Dairy Delite in Fredericktown. She also was a homemaker.
Her first husband, Shirl K. Barnhart, whom she married September 6, 1951, died February 25, 1983.
Her second husband, Robert G. Ankrom, whom she married June 12, 1986, died November 4, 1997.
Surviving are five sons, Shirl (Jane) Barnhart of Jefferson, Duncan E. (Candice) Barnhart of Carmichaels, William W. (Mary) Barnhart of Carmichaels, John R.(Merri Lu) Ankrom of Waynesburg and David G. (Kimberly) Ankrom of Boyertown; a daughter, Elizabeth (Phil) Amos of Jackson, N.J.; daughter-in-law Janice Buckingham of Claysville; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister Johnella Cappelli of Charleroi; brother Joseph S. Smith of Landis, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sons, John William Barnhart, who died in infancy, and Phillip Buckingham.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 22, with the Rev. Dave Decker officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. The family asks memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O.
