David Kennedy Coleman

David Kennedy Coleman, 51, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

He was born August 14, 1961, in Nashville, Tenn., a son of Lillie Edwards and husband Aldon of Canonsburg and the late Felix Coleman.

Mr. Coleman was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Canonsburg, where he was involved in the Male and Celestial choirs.

He was a self-employed handyman.

Mr. Coleman enjoyed playing pool, ping-pong and basketball and was an avid Steelers fan.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a son, Timothy Petty of New Kensington; two daughters, Daja Brown of Pittsburgh and Tameka Petty of New Kensington; two sisters, Aundrea Thomas of Canonsburg and Erika Kurzawa and husband Christopher of Upper St. Clair; three uncles, James Lockridge and wife Beverly, Eugene Lockridge and wife Gwen and Bobby Lockridge and wife Princess, all of Nashville; four nieces, Tierra Thomas, Taj-Aya Barnes, Taryn Kurzawa and Tayla Kurzawa; a nephew, Travis Holt; a great-niece, Taliyah Thomas; his companion, Sherry Forrest and her children, Santana Byrd, Montana Byrd and Shanice Austin; lifelong cherished friends Clifton Mitchell and wife Margaret of Nashville; and many other family members and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, February 23, in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Canonsburg, with the Rev. Anita Lovell officiating.
