Helen Thames Roland
Helen Thames Roland, 87, of Washington, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born February 14, 1926, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Andy Mally.
Mrs. Roland was a 1944 graduate of Canonsburg High School. She lived most of her life in Canonsburg and Peters Township.
She was a devoted homemaker and mother.
In her earlier years, she worked for Sun Drug’s drugstore in Donaldson’s Crossroads.
Mrs. Roland was Catholic. She enjoyed music, dancing and all kinds of animals, especially dogs, which were her favorite. She was a sociable person and known as a “fairly simple person.”
Surviving are a son, Douglas Thames of Bridgeville, and a daughter, Barbara (Anthony) Polito of Amity.
Deceased is a granddaughter, Samara Polito, who passed away in infancy.
