Lucille Elma Irwin McCartney, 92, of Washington, died Friday, February 22, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born December 23, 1920, in Buffalo Township, Washington County, a daughter of William H. and Elma Sweitzer Irwin.

A homemaker, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading, especially her Bible, and animals, especially dogs.

On April 8, 1939, she married Henry Warren “Hank” McCartney, who died April 29, 2009.

Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Patterson of Washington; a sister, Vera Anderson of Washington; two grandchildren, Autumn (David) Langham and Matthew Patterson; four great-grandchildren, Jesse, Charity, Samuel and Lily Langham; and many nieces and nephews, including Dan Irwin, who had once lived with her.

Deceased are four brothers, James, William, Kenneth and Martin; a son-in-law, Bill Patterson; and a great-grandchild, Joy Langham.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 25, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
