George E. Smith
George E. Smith, 77, of McDonald, died Friday, February 22, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born December 17, 1935, in McDonald, a son of the late Daniel M. and Rachel Bruce Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Cecil High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Aloe Coal Co. for many years and retired in 2000 from All American Energy in Oakdale.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting.
On February 27, 1956, he married Joy Scott, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, George D. (Donna) Smith of Bethel Park and Jeffrey A. (Michelle) Smith of Cecil; a sister, Jean Page of Baldwin; a brother, Thomas Smith of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Davis and Baylee Smith; three stepgrandchildren, Jacey Toward, Joshua Clemens and Joseph (Kara) Clemens; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Devin; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Samuel and Keirsten.
Deceased are four brothers, Daniel, John, James and William Smith; and five sisters, Marion Shimek, Jane McKissick, Laverne Livingston, Betty Albertini and Dolores Rumbaugh.
Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, with the Rev. Dennis Lawrence, pastor of Independent Bible Presbyterian Church, McDonald, officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. The family suggests memorials be made to Independent Bible Presbyterian Church, 112 Dempe Road, McDonald, PA 15057.
