John Wayne Hunt Sr.

John Wayne Hunt Sr., 74, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, following a one-year illness.

He was born October 23, 1938, in West Finley, a son of Vernon and Mary Leota Wise Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a graduate of Chartiers High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from December 11, 1961, until his honorable discharge March 4, 1963, with a rank of private first class.

Mr. Hunt worked as an over-the-road truck driver for New Penn Motor Express for many years.

In November 1959, he married Bertha Florence Mull, who died March 9, 1992.

Surviving are three sons, Roger Lee Hunt and John Wayne Hunt Jr. (Andrea), both of Washington, and David Paul Hunt (Danielle) of McDonald; three brothers, James Hunt of Vandergrift, Richard Hunt of Washington and Dan Hunt of Latrobe; and two grandchildren, Isabella and Lydia.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating.
