Joseph Wayne Savage
Joseph Wayne Savage, 63, of Morgantown, W.Va., died Thursday, February 21, 2013, in his home.
He was born May 9, 1949, in Morgantown, a son of Mary Ellen Petrucci Savage of Morgantown and the late Bruce Savage Jr.
Mr. Savage graduated from University High School in 1967 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army, having served two years in Germany during the Vietnam War.
After returning home, he worked at Humphrey No. 7 mine and retired from Consol with 24 years of service. He was a member of the Local United Mine Workers of America 1058. He then went on to work 12 years for Mylan Pharmaceuticals and retired from the United Steel Workers Union Local 8-957.
Mr. Savage was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He belonged to Mt. Morris Sportsman Association and Bobtown Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.
In addition to his mother, Mary Ellen Savage, surviving are his wife of 43 years, Rebecca “Becky” Moore Savage; two daughters, Billee Jo Bodwell and husband Chuck, currently residing in Amarillo, Texas, and Courtney Sabo and husband Christopher of Mooresville, N.C.; son Benjamin Savage and Holly Browning of Tornado, W.Va.; sisters Karin Rife of Morgantown and LouAnn Cooley and husband Chuck of Star City, W.Va.; and brothers Bruce Savage and wife Frannie of Derry and Mark Savage and wife Peggy and Monty Savage and wife Lisa, all of Mt. Morris. He loved and adored his grandchildren, Charlee, Adam and Samantha Bodwell, Austin, Camdin and Kellin Sabo, Aiden Savage, Alex Ables and Peyton and Parker Konchesky. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends alike.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Morgantown, with the Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
