William J Kasten

William J. “Bill” Kasten, 75, of Finleyville, died Monday, December 31, 2012, in Center for Compassionate Care, Mt. Lebanon.

He was born May 9, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of William D. and Alice Reis Kasten.

Mr. Kasten was retired after 30 years as a foundryman with the former J&L Steel Corp. in Pittsburgh.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Wrights United Methodist Church, Venetia, where he served on the board of trustees and was a member of the men’s group of the church.

Mr. Kasten also was a member of Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees.

Surviving are a son, Douglas Kasten of Finleyville, and several stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Deceased are his first wife, Kathleen Brucha Kasten, and his second wife, Ethel Patton Kasten.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, with the Rev. Tom Hoeke officiating. Private internment will be in Finleyville Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Wrights Church Building Fund, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia, PA 15367, or to a charity of one’s choice.
