William E. Emph Jr.
William E. Emph Jr., 81, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in his home.
Mr. Emph was born June 26, 1931, a son of William Sr. and Edith Barnhart Emph.
He retired from Peters Township School District’s maintenance department.
Mr. Emph was a member of SNPJ No. 138 in Strabane, CB Club and Moose Club.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and had raced at the Heidelberg Raceway.
On February 19, 1953, he married Kathryn Marlene Henderson, who died July 2, 2005.
Surviving are five children, Donna M. Giering of Milwaukee, Wis., Debra E. Cadez (Ronald) of Strabane, William E. Emph III (Michelle) of Mt. Jackson, Va., Darla Renee Emph, with whom he made his home, and Timothy Layne Emph (Traci) of Washington; grandchildren Jamie Van Weelden, Ramie and Brian Findling, Jason, Chris and Jeremy Cadez, Megan, Hope, Matt and Mike Emph, Dominic and Artie Richel, Antonette Court (Jamie), Leslie Hodovan and Samantha and T.J. Emph (Rachel); great-grandchildren Nicole Van Weelden, Cody Findling, Ayden and Landon Emph and Jaxyn Pemberton; a great-great-grandson, Michael O’Hare; a brother, Keith Emph (Jenny) of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Van Weelden; a son-in-law, Glen Giering; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Emph.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of memorial service, Saturday, January 5, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of The Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
