Barbara Jean Shaner, 61, of West Alexander, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in her home.
She was born August 4, 1951, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of Gerald Lee Shaner of West Alexander and the late Edith Mae Riggins Shaner.
Miss Shaner was a member of First Christian Church in West Alexander.
She was a waitress all of her life.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and visiting with her sister and nieces and nephews.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are two brothers, Gerald Lee Shaner Jr. of Pittsburgh and Scott (Patricia) Shaner of Scottdale; a sister, Sandy Lee (Edward “Butch”) Hemelrick of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her mother, is a nephew, Robert Hemelrick.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, 219 Main Street, Claysville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, with Pastor Bruce Graff officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
