Devoted husband, proud father

Charles “Butch” Connors, 57, of McMurray, died Monday, January 14, 2013.

He was the beloved son of Charles and Mary Connors; devoted husband of 23 years to Gail Connors; proud father of Charles (Shana) Connors and Dana Scotti; and caring brother of Karen Scholtz, Kathleen “Boo” Montgomery, Kris Maus, Timothy Connors, Patrick Connors, Michael Connors and Ruth Hahalyak.

Olive Galentine Federoff

Beloved mother and grandmother

Olive Galentine Federoff, 94, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care, Washington, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughters, the staff and the hospice team.

She was born August 11, 1918, in West Finley, a daughter of Dae and Nellie Clovis Galentine.

She is survived by three daughters, Ella Coen of McMurray, and Martha (Roger) Riggs and Alberta Hancher, both of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Pam Ackerman, Roger Riggs Jr., Becky Wilks, Billie Sue Sayres, Julie Ann Miller, Jeff Coen, Mary Beth Miesemer, Rodney Miller, Dennis Riggs, Darren Riggs and David Riggs; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings George (Teresa) Galentine of Seal Beach, Calif., Bob Galentine of Elm Grove, W.Va., Jerry (Ray) Henry of Warren, Ohio, Mary Lou Galentine and Jean Guess, both of Washington, and Donna Mellon of Apache Junction, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Federoff, who died in 1981; a brother, Harold Galentine; a son-in-law, Bill Coen; a granddaughter, Tina Loughman; and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Federoff retired from Western Center, where she had worked as an aide. She was known as an excellent seamstress and she loved puzzles and playing Scrabble. Most of all, she loved her cherished daughters and grandchildren, who called her Nanny. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Virginia I. Crumbliss Johnson

Retired housekeeper for Holiday Inn, Meadow Lands

Virginia I. Crumbliss Johnson, 77, of Washington, formerly of Cameron, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in her home.

She was born August 9, 1935, in Crane, Mo., a daughter of the late Andrew and Blanche Cloud Crumbliss.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Baptist Church in Crane.

She retired after 18 1/2 years of service at the Holiday Inn in Meadow Lands, where she worked in housekeeping.

Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Ann (Donald) Greene and Ronda Jean (Richard) Vanderlee, both of Washington, and Donna Kay Johnson and Linda Darlene Johnson, both of Montgomery, Ala.; two sons, Richard Earnest (Betty) Johnson and Jack Randell Johnson, both of Washington; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren,

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Clyde R. Johnson, who died March 10, 2003, and two brothers, Hilman and Earl.

Mrs. Johnson was the last of her immediate family.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 39 Maple Avenue, Cameron, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, with Pastor Joe Didonato officiating. Edwin David Jolliffe

USPS carrier, clerk was Air Force veteran

Edwin David “Dave” Jolliffe, 74, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, in his home.

He was born July 8, 1938, in Poland Mines, Greene County, a son of the late Edwin David and Ethel Jolliffe.

Mr. Jolliffe served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a clerk and rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of American Kennel Club, Beagle Club and American Coon Hunters Club.

Surviving are his former wife and companion, Joyce Butcho; five daughters, Kim Jolliffe of Carmichaels, Tracy Vreeland of Bayfield, Colo., Shelley Tripp of Youngsville, N.C., Denise Berdine of Waynesburg and Dana Nickles of West Calle, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, Carol Ferrier of Magadore, Ohio, Robert David of Butler, Audrey David of Carmichaels and Carl David.

Deceased are a brother, Cliff David, a brother, William David, who died in infancy, and a sister, Betty Wilson.

Bonnie Jean Stimpson Morris

1946 – 2013

Bonnie Jean Stimpson Morris, 66, of Washington, formerly of Castle Shannon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, January 15, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

She was born October 13, 1946, in Cross Creek, a daughter of the late Allison Guy and Edith Irene Huber Stimpson.

A graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown, she served in and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, March Air Force Base in California.

She was employed by WQED Channel 13 and worked as a housekeeper in St. Winifred Parish Rectory, Mt. Lebanon.

An avid seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, puzzles and gardening.

She is survived by a son, Mark W. Morris, Ph.D., and wife Jessica of Shaler Township; three grandsons, with whom she greatly enjoyed spending time, Xavier, Nathaniel and Noah Morris; a sister, Sherry Chestnut of Strabane; and three brothers, Richard Stimpson of Florida, Ronald Stimpson Sr. of Washington and Larry Stimpson of Independence Township.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Willard T. Morris Jr. and a brother, Kenneth G. Stimpson.

Lois Jean Thomas Phillips

Homemaker was member of Mt. Morris U.M. Church

Lois Jean Thomas Phillips, 83, of Mt. Morris, died at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care Home, Waynesburg.

She was born Thursday, August 29, 1929, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Mary Alverta Harvey Thomas. She spent her entire life in Mt. Morris.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of Mt. Morris United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Gilbert Paul Phillips, whom she married November 28, 1947, died August 23, 2009.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Ronald (Monna Sue) Phillips of Mt. Morris and Gilbert Paul”Butch”(Sheila) Phillips II of Mt. Morris; three grandsons, Jeffrey (Lori) Phillips, Zachery (Jennifer) Phillips and Kolbi Phillips, all of Mt. Morris; two great-grandsons, Levi and Chase Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are a son who died in infancy, Dennis Wayne Phillips; three sisters, Wilma Greathouse, Dorothy Henderson and Bernadine McCormick; and six brothers, Thurman Thomas, Virgil Thomas, Willis Thomas, Chester Thomas, Earl Thomas and Charles Thomas Jr.

Mrs. Phillips received care and compassion from staff in Evergreen Personal Care Home and Albert Gallatin Hospice.

John E. Raysich

Classical guitarist, collector owned John Raysich Auto

John E. Raysich, 65, of East Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.

He was born August 18, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of the late John and Violet Radusan Raysich.

Mr. Raysich was a graduate of Ferndale-Dale High School in Johnstown, and attended Washington & Jefferson College and Carnegie Mellon University, where he majored in classical guitar performance.

He owned John Raysich Auto Specialties in Bridgeville, which specializes in German vehicles.

He loved playing classical guitar and was interested in World War II aircrafts and antiquing. He was an avid collector of almost anything he found interesting.

On August 12, 1967, in Johnstown, he married Susan Callender, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, John D. (Jody) Raysich of Claysville; a daughter, Erin (John) Nicotra of Cranberry; a sister, Joyce Hill of Johnstown; and five grandchildren, Lauren and Jenna Raysich and John, Eddie and Emma Nicotra.

George Razum

Beth-Center teacher was cattle farmer, WWII vet

George Razum, 85, formerly of Fallowfield Township, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.

He was born May 27, 1927, in Marianna, a son of Joseph A. and Katherine Yurkovich Razum.

Mr. Razum was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. A graduate of Charleroi High School and California State Teacher’s College, Mr. Razum retired from Bethlehem-Center School District, where he was a teacher for many years. He was also a farmer, having raised beef cattle.

Mr. Razum was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 354, Cokeburg.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Troutman Razum; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pauline and Gilfert Mihalich of Smithton, Lillian Taylor of Monessen and Katherine and Ronald Zukauckas of Fallowfield Township; and two nieces and three nephews, Leonard Mihalich of Van Voorhis, Gail Lever of Princeton, Mass., Gil Mihalich of Bentelyville, Daniel Razum of Thailand and Cheryl Castillo of Dallas, Texas.

The staff in Walnut Ridge Memory Care took excellent care of Mr. Razum.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes Inc., 405 Main Street, Bentleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, in Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas, pastor, as celebrant. Adele M. Leone Russo

Member of Immaculate Conception Church

Adele M. Leone Russo, 94, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in her home.

She was born February 22, 1918, a daughter of Pasquale and Joanne Nardone Leone.

Mrs. Russo graduated from Washington High School in 1937 and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a salesperson for Caldwell Department Store for four years.

On June 1, 1947, she married the late John H. Russo, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with the late Father Andrew J. Zapora as celebrant. Her husband, John, died May 28, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Alan (Kathleen) Russo of McMurray and Robert Leone (Mary) Russo of Washington; a brother, Anthony “Tony” Leone of Washington; two sisters, Olga Curci of Washington and Ermalinda Tumicki of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, David, Steven, Patrick, Veronica and Alexandra Russo, Michael B. (Jennifer) Cain and Heather M. Doman; and two great-grandsons, Rocco and Jack Doman.

Deceased are two sisters, Helen A. Zullo and Edith Leone; and a great-grandson, Tyler Michael Cain.

Harry R. Shaw

Retired diesel mechanic was Navy vet, NRA member

Harry R. Shaw, 75, of Vanderbilt, passed away peacefully Wenesday, January 16, 2013, at the home of his son, John Shaw, in Fredericktown, Washington County.

He was born December 28, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Jonas and Laura Snyder Shaw.

Mr. Shaw had resided in Vanderbilt since 1967 and was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant, Class of 1955.

Prior to his retirement, he was a diesel mechanic for the State Equipment Co. in Monroeville.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1956 to 1960 and was stationed in New Zealand during Operation Deep Freeze. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Dawson.

Mr. Shaw will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving children, Mark Shaw of Grindstone, John Shaw of Fredericktown, Jim Shaw and wife Kelley of Uniontown and Karen Schenken of Granville, Ohio; grandchildren Joshua, Mark, Eric, Zoe and Alexander; and a great-grandson, Joshua J. Harry.

Mr. Shaw was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, deceased are his wife, Phyllis P. Thomas Shaw, whom he married September 15, 1961; a grandson, Brandon Shaw; brothers Joseph John, Robert James, William, Harman Waddell, Jonas Jr., Edward Charles and Thomas K. Shaw; and sisters Margaret Bowers, Lorraine Bowers, Grace Zaucha and an infant sister.

Joan Joyce “Jody” Sumner, 82, of Wilkinson, Ind., passed away Monday, January 14, 2013.

She was born September 26, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of Leroy and Anna Reed Harris.

Mrs. Sumner was a waitress at Italian Garden.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 45 years, Bruce W. Sumner; children Trudy Meredith, Robert Sumner, Guy Sumner, Scott Sumner and Jeff Lewis; brothers Jim, Jack and Bob Harris; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons Donald McDivitt and Bruce Sumner.
