Ulysses S. Yarbor

Ulysses S. “Bones” Yarbor, 82, of Washington, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Washington Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 6, 1930, in Washington, a son of the late Robert Yarbrough and Annie Archibald Lockett.

Mr. Yarbor was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, American Legion, the Elks, National Radio Association and was a 33rd Degree Mason.

He worked for Jessop Steel as a crane operator for 23 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening and working with electronics. Mr. Yarbor worked on and built televisions and radios.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

On March 6, 1954, he married Anna M. Jones of Washington, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Rodney “Tiger” (Leslie Dorazio) Yarbor of Washington; four daughters, Carla Yarbor Payne of Fresno, Calif., Gayle Yarbor of Stockton, Calif., Apryl Yarbor of Tracy, Calif., and Andrea Yarbor of Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Newell of Corona, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Aaron Payne, Marcus Payne and Elycia (Michael Hildebrand) Yarbor; a great-grandchild, Kayden Hildebrand; and several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves his faithful friend, his dog, Waldo.

Deceased is a son, Ronald Lee “Kiddy” Yarbor and a brother, Joseph Yarbor.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of a funeral service, Saturday, January 26, in Friendship Baptist Church, 17 East Walnut Street, Washington, with Pastor Richard White officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the U.S. Air Force.
