Harriet M. Frye Carter, 84, of Monongahela (Valley Inn), died Friday, January 25, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born September 12, 1928, in North Charleroi, a daughter of the late William Frye and Alice Swingle.
A homemaker, Mrs. Carter was a member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela.
She attended the former Wylie School. She was a founding member of Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former president of Valley Inn Helping Hands.
Mrs. Carter enjoyed spending time at Monongahela Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are four sons and daughter-in-laws, Ricky and Vickie Carter of Davie, Fla., Larry and Nan Carter of Charleroi, James Carter and wife Ellen Wolfson of Davie and Terry and Michelle Carter of Monongahela; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jason Yamamoto of Canonsburg; 11 grandchildren, Tracey (Vince) Bavuso, R.J., Katie, Felicia, Troy, Camryn, Casey, Kori and Brook Carter and Brett and Derek Radaker; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Jean and husband Clyde Porter of Charleroi; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Carter of Easly, S.C.
Deceased are her husband, Harold C. “Butch” Carter, who died in June 2002, and a son, Dale Carter, who died in November 2011.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 28, in First Baptist Church, Monongahela, with the Rev. Mark Scholaert officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
