Henry Breakiron

The Rev. Dr. J. Henry Breakiron, 92, of McMurray, formerly of Carmichaels, died Monday, January 28, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Georgetta Woodward Breakiron; loving father of Esther “Sue” (Russel) Wert of Davidson, N.C., Karen Page of Edinburg and Diane (David) Altieri of Canonsburg; cherished grandfather of Kristen (Dan) Wert Kaplan, Kimberly (Matt) Wert Schrader, Stephen (Sonya) Wert, Michael Bacorn, Tammy Bacorn, Bradley Altieri and Stefanie Altieri; and brother of the late Grace, John, James Elmer, Alice and Lloyd. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Breakiron served as an ordained minister in various communities in Southwestern Pennsylvania, North Dakota and Maryland over a period of 68 years.

He was a member of Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and was a past member of Masonic Lodge 513.

The Rev. Breakiron took great pride in the fact that he built his own retirement home with the help of his 14-year-old grandson.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beinhauer-Bogan. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at 164 West Pike St., Canonsburg, 724-745-5810. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, in First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg, with Dr. Andrew Harvey officiating.

Interment will be in Greenridge Memorial Park. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg, United Methodist Church of Carmichaels, Bethany Hospice – Green Tree, or Paramount Senior Living – McMurray.
