Laverne May Hiles, 83, of Claysville, West Finley Township, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, in Breese Rest Home, Claysville.
She was born April 13, 1930, in Rennerdale, Allegheny County, a daughter of the late Fred and Julia Stopa Krieger.
Mrs. Hiles had resided in the Claysville area since 1968.
She was a member of Windy Gap United Presbyterian Church in West Finley.
Mrs. Hiles was a graduate of Scott Township High School.
She was a member of the former Covered Bridge Artisans and enjoyed reading and woodworking.
Mrs. Hiles was last employed as a substitute rural mail carrier at the Claysville Post Office.
On April 13, 1950, she married Frank William Hiles Jr., who died June 18, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Gayle McAdoo, wife of Kevin of Claysville and Aimee Renner, wife of Larry of Washington; a son, Kendall Hiles, husband of Susan of Apex, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Drew McAdoo, Neal McAdoo, husband of Katie, Beth Chatlak, wife of Matthew, Jason Renner and Candace Renner Leonard, wife of David and Spencer and Katie Hiles; five great-grandchildren, Sean and Reilly McAdoo, Benjamin Chatlak, Jace McAdoo and Jacob Renner; a brother, Ronald Krieger of New Jersey; two sisters, Regina, wife of Donald Group of Washington, and Sharyn McCabe of Coraopolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four sisters, Dolores, Nancy and Carolyn Krieger and Darlene Windsheimer.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a committal service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, in Washington Cemetery mausoleum, with the Rev. Steve Mentzer officiating.
