U.S. Army vet worked for Sanders Real Estate

Harry F. Sanders, 84, of East Washington, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Southminster Place of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

He was born October 4, 1928, in Washington, a son of the late Paul F. and Anna G. Miller Sanders.

Mr. Sanders was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School. He then served as a corporal in the 43rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, in 1951 and 1952.

Following his time in the U.S. Army, he worked for the principal branch of Mellon Bank for 23 years. He then devoted his attention to the business he had started in 1955, Harry F. Sanders Real Estate Rentals, which he operated until shortly before his death.

Mr. Sanders was a born-again Christian who as previously was a member of Abundant Life Church and later affiliated with Washington Alliance Church.

On July 25, 1959, he married Marian Weirich, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Marian R. Sanders of East Washington; a son, Harry F. (Janice) Sanders Jr. of East Washington; three grandsons, Harry F. Sanders III, Jeremy M. Sanders and Joshua M. Sanders, all of East Washington; two brothers, Irvin W. and Paul Wade Sanders, both of Washington; a sister, Susanne Wilson of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and several nephews and a niece.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, in Community Mausoleum Chapel of Washington Cemetery, with Pastor James Newman officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
