Terrell B. Tyler
1944 – 2013
Terrell B. Tyler, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, friend, family man, motivator and comedian, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 30, 2013, in Orange Park (Fla.) Medical Center. As a cancer survivor, fighter, protector, champion, light, lover and romantic, he shared his wisdom, compassion and humor with family, friends and strangers.
Born November 15, 1944, in Washington, he was a son of Betty J. Brown and the late Albert Tyler.
He graduated from Trinity High School and then served honorably in the U.S. Army for three years.
Mr. Tyler earned a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville (Fla.) University.
He worked for Brockway Glass (Owens-Illinois) and moved from Brockway to Jacksonville in 1985.
In 2004, Mr. Tyler retired from JEA, where he held the positions of corporate buyer, manager of procurement services, manager of auditing services, computer projects manager and website developer.
He served his professional and local community through membership in numerous organizations including Purchasing Management Association of Florida First Coast, United Way of Northeast Florida, Kiwanis Club of Arlington, Jacksonville, and St. Luke Catholic Church in Middleburg, Fla.
Mr. Tyler was an avid golfer who enjoyed the sports of bowling, softball and weight lifting. His hobbies also included computer technology.
Surviving are his mother, Betty Tyler; wife Christine Weilacher Tyler of Middleburg; four sons, Derrick Carlo, Akeli Tyler and Iniko Tyler of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patrick Morgan-Tyler of Jacksonville; daughter Melissa Morgan of Riverside, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the funeral home, with the Rev.
