Active St. Benedict the Abbot member was musician

Kathleen H. Hess, 89, of McMurray, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in her home.

She was born October 3, 1923, in Carnegie, a daughter of the late Andrew and Rose Seibel, formerly of Carnegie.

Mrs. Hess loved music and was a piano teacher. She enjoyed traveling with friends in her youth and later with her husband and family.

She was one of the founding members of St. Benedict the Abbot Parish and also played the organ and directed the choir for many years.

On June 3, 1961, she married Leo J. Hess, who died May 6, 1987.

Surviving are three children, Suzanne (Michael) Ravasio of Upper St. Clair, Lori (David) Lyle of McMurray and Martin (Natalie) Hess of McMurray; 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Jenna, Cara, and Nicholas Ravasio, Joseph, Maria, Anna, Ben, Andrew, Theresa, Angela, Elizabeth, John Paul and Clare Lyle and William Hess; three siblings, Bernadette Sentner, Ralph Seibel and Rose Wuenstel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four siblings, Charles Seibel, Dorothy Bauer, Mary Lou Wirth and Leo Seibel.

Friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Beinhauer Funeral Homer, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, in St. Benedict the Abbot Parish, McMurray. Entombment will be held in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
