Eugene Ostrander, 65, of Washington, died Friday, July 12, 2012, in his home, following a two-year illness.
He was born August 15, 1947, a son of the late William Ostrander and Martha Charney Ostrander.
Mr. Ostrander graduated from Washington High School in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator.
Mr. Ostrander was a night supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards with his siblings and loved his dog Spike.
On July 13, 1968, he married Belinda E. “Boots” Riethmiller, who died July 3, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Janell Lynn Ostrander, Melanie Rae Ostrander and Ashley Marie Ostrander, all of Washington; two brothers, Kenneth Ostrander of Mesa, Ariz., and Ray Ostrander of Lake Station, Ind.; six sisters, Dorothy Weaver of Levittown, Barbara Ward of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Mary Jane Wheeler of Lake Station, Ind., Laverna Drabeck of Washington, Martha Baker of Hyattsville, Md., and Darlene Dicks of Claysville; niece Bridgett Riethmiller of Monongahela.
Deceased are two brothers, Albert and Donald Ostrander.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 E. Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Suite 1B, 5150 Center Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
