Retired foreman for Chartiers National Gas

Samuel F. Caldwell, 85, of Canonsburg, died Friday, July 19, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor.

He was born June 2, 1928, in Eighty Four, a son of Denver and Alta Caldwell Walker.

Mr. Caldwell retired as foreman for Chartiers National Gas Co.

He was a member of Cokeburg Moose Lodge 1625 and Canonsburg Sportsmen Club.

Mr. Caldwell enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.

On February 13, 1971, he married Myrl J. Moore, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Charles Caldwell of Witchita Falls, Texas, and Nancy Whitlach of Waynesburg; a stepdaughter, Virginia Berardinelli (Jerry) of Cokeburg; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Ferne Rogers of Washington.

Deceased are a stepson, Joseph E. Hahn; a brother, John E. Caldwell; a half sister, Dorothy W. Dunn; a stepbrother, Frederick Walker; and a stepsister, Jessie W. Shaw.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Monday, July 22, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Services will be held at 8 p.m., with Pastor Tom Lemmon officiating.
