Shirley Joanne Davis, 77, of Washington, died Friday, May 31, 2013, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born December 18, 1935, in Washington, a daughter of the late Roy and Opal Elizabeth Riggle Fielder.
Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Trinity High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing.
She worked as a nurse at Western Center for nine years and also at the Washington Hospital. She retired from Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, where she had worked as a nursing supervisor.
Mr. Davis was an active and longtime supporter of Relay for Life as well as the Alzheimer’s Association.
She enjoyed going on cruises, sewing and her dog, Molly Mae.
On December 20, 1957, she married Robert Ralph Davis, who died March 27, 1980.
Surviving are two sons, Robert A. Davis (Dianna) of North Carolina and William M. Davis (Mary) of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Jenny L. Davis (fiancé Corey Sampson) of Washington; a brother, Edward Carr (Becky) of Meadville; a sister, Connie L. Metz of Victor, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Emily and Caitlin Davis; a great-grandchild, Colten Patrick Sampson; a cousin, Mary Jo Forrest; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Bonnie L. McDole.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, with the Rev. Paul Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
