1926 – 2013
Margaret Anne “Mickey” Lee, 87, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday evening, June 3, 2013, in Boyer Personal Care Home, Hanover Township.
She was born January 23, 1926, in Midway, a daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Cochran Darras.
After graduating from Union High School in Burgettstown, she graduated from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Shadyside Hospital from 1946 until 1953.
After raising her three children, she returned to work as a registered nurse at the Community Medical Center of Northwest Washington County (now Cornerstone Care) in Burgettstown and Atlasburg from July 1976 until her retirement in June 1991.
Among the many pastimes, she enjoyed were traveling, hunting and working with her many dogs. Golf was a special joy that she shared with her husband and many friends, and she filled her house with trophies. After retirement, she participated in many activities at Burgettstown Senior Citizens Center.
Her husband, Thomas V. Lee, whom she married June 6, 1953, died September 10, 1996.
Surviving are three children, Kathleen Lee of Indianapolis, Ind., Thomas Lee and wife Roberta of Lebanon and Patrick Lee of Burgettstown; two grandchildren, Dakota and Rachael Lee; a brother, John Darras of Leola; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a brother, Robert Darras.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. The Rev. Clarejean Haury, pastor of the former Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
