1941 – 2013
James P. “Pogo” Pogonovich, 71, of Slovan, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2013, in the home of his friend Evelyn, surrounded by his close friends.
He was born December 21, 1941, in Primrose, a son of the late Nick and Madeline Kargle Pogonovich.
Mr. Pogonovich was a member of Atlasburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6490 and Burgettstown American Legion Post 698 and a charter member of American Legion Riders.
He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his friends.
Surviving are children James, Stacey and Stephen Pogonovich, all of Texas; a brother, Nick Pogonovich and wife Mildred; two sisters, Nancy Pienkosky and Iris Ransom and husband Ray; and several nieces, nephews and friends, especially Tony Strapazzon.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Dick “Al” Burgoon and Lou Pogonovich.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Friday, June 14, in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. Inurnment with military honors and escorted by the American Legion Riders will be held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
