Special education teacher was accomplished athlete

Forrest Dale Lolley Sr. of Fryburg died unexpectedly in his home Wednesday, June 5, 2013. He was 63.

Born August 17, 1949, in Lickingville, he was a son of the late Robert C. and Mary Glendene Graham Lolley.

On June 15, 1968, he married Eulalia “Eukie” Marie Lolley. She survives.

Mr. Lolley was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force and held various jobs in his early years, before finding his calling as a teacher.

He was a graduate of North Clarion Junior-Senior High School and held a bachelor’s degree in special education from Clarion University. In addition, he held a master’s degree in elementary education.

Mr. Lolley was a special education teacher at North Clarion Elementary school for 20 years and touched the lives of many young people.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Fryburg.

Mr. Lolley enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing. He also was an avid bowler and was a member of leagues in both Clarion and Knox.

A volunteer fireman for many years, he was a past president of Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department and past president of Clarion County Volunteer Fire Department Association. He also taught fire safety courses statewide and previously served as tax assessor for Washington Township.

Mr. Lolley was both an avid Steelers fan and accomplished athlete, holding the long jump record at North Clarion for more than 40 years. He also coached youth baseball and basketball.

He also enjoyed country music and made several trips, in recent years, with his wife and friends to Nashville, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, deceased are two brothers, Harold Leroy Lolley and Timothy Charles Lolley, and a grandson, Robert Charles Swogger.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, F. Dale Lolley Jr. and wife Amy of Washington; a daughter, Sonia Marie Swogger of Hermitage; and six grandchildren, Jon Tomis Swogger, Nathan Allen Swogger and fiancé Taylor Rust and Nicholas Graham Swogger, all of Hermitage, and Noah Holt Lolley, Tanner Robert Lolley and Madelyn Grace Lolley, all of Washington. Also surviving are two sisters, Roberta “Bobbie” Carbaugh and husband Don of Shippenville and Ann Judy and husband Ray of Lucinda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Borland Funeral Home, Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Fryburg, with Father Skip Davis presiding. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
