Retired Robena coal miner was outdoorsman

Paul Francis Ludrosky, 73, of Smithfield, formerly of Masontown, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, with his family at his side, in West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born January 28, 1940, in Ronco, a son of the late Paul P. and Elizabeth Marcinek Ludrosky.

Mr. Ludrosky was a graduate of German Township High School, Class of 1957.

He and his wife, Norma, decided to move to Alexandria, Va., where he was employed with United Airlines. They eventually moved back to Ronco to be with his family. Before retiring, he was employed for 30 years as a coal miner for U.S. Steel Robena Mine.

Mr. Ludrosky was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown.

He was a first degree Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Ludrosky belonged to Masontown Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pals Club and Masontown Fish and Game Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Egidi and her husband, John.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laura Catanzaro of Mars, Paul N. Ludrosky of Smithfield, Teresa Lumley and husband John of Johnstown, Michael Ludrosky and wife Jennifer of Carmichaels and Shannon Ludrosky of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Molly Ludrosky, Zachary Ludrosky, Bethany Catanzaro, Jarett Catanzaro, Paige Lumley, Jack Lumley, Grant Lumley, Michael Ludrosky and Nicole Ludrosky; a sister, Mary Ann Blasinsky and husband Paul of Carmichaels; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind a special friend, Mary Jane Haky, who provided years of unconditional love and support to him and his children.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in John S. Maykuth Jr. Funeral Home, corner of Church and 7 River avenues, Masontown. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with the Rev. Father John M. Butler as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to All Saints Parish or All Saints School, 101 West Church Avenue, Masontown. A parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
