Washington resident enjoyed crafting
Betty Jean Carpenter, 75, of Washington, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, in UPMC-Montefiore hospital, Pittsburgh, following declining health.
She was born March 5, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of Arthur and Catherine “Cass” Carter Johnson.
Ms. Carpenter attended Washington Christian Missionary Alliance and enjoyed crafting.
Surviving are a son, Charles A. (Julie) Carpenter of Wolfdale; four daughters, Sharon (Brian) Mallich of McMurray, Rebecca (Tom) O’Toole of South Park, Cynthia Ingram of Washington and Jenny Carpenter of Wolfdale; a brother, Arthur Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Esther Finney of Houston and Philena Stanley of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Russell Carpenter, and a sister, Donna Johnson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, with the Rev. Gary Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
